Frequently Asked Questions

The following are the most frequently asked questions:-

1. How do I join the Food Coop?

Check the list of workplace venues we deliver to. If your workplace is on the list, simply follow the instructions to register.

2. When/where will the goods be delivered?

This will depend on where you are based. See below for specific venue information.

3. When do I place my order?

This will depend on where you are based. You will get a reminder e-mail on the morning of the order deadline.

4. Can I choose the fruit and veg that I'd like to buy?

No, the idea of a bag scheme is that local, seasonal produce is bought in bulk (making it cheaper); in all cases the bags contain at least 5 different varieties of fruit or veg. Bags are standardised across all of our Food Co-ops, and will change from week to week.

5. Do I have to order the same goods every week?

Not at all you are free to order whatever you like, whenever you like.

6. What will happen if I am unable to collect my order?

It is your responsibility to ask a colleague to hand over your payment and collect your order, all uncollected orders still have to be paid for.

7. If my workplace is not listed will I be able to join the scheme?

We are hoping that if there are enough people interested to make it viable for The Food Chain North East to make extra deliveries, those who work outside of the listed organisations will be able to be included in the scheme. Those that think they have enough interested colleagues to participate should contact Anthony Armstrong at Blyth Valley Food Cooperative on 0191 4826818 to discuss the matter.
